The older housing stock of the Central Area of Seattle provides a rich pallet for adapting to modern living. McHegg Design+Build occupied and remodeled this single family house in the Central Area over a period of five years.
Projects included a dormer addition to expand a bedroom, enlarging and refinishing the bathroom and converting underused space into an office and mudroom with extensive built-in cabinetry.
McHegg
Design+Build worked with these clients in West Seattle to provide extra room
in their home for their daughter, son-in-law and grandson to live. The solution
was to convert a dark and underused basement into a bright and cozy two-bedroom
apartment by creating large window wells to bring light into the kitchen and
bedrooms.
The clients had a limited budget, but McHegg Design+Build was able to work
with the owners to define a scope of work that allowed the owners to do some
of the work themselves. The design included a Master Plan for the house that
defined phases of work to help the owners reach their goals within their means.
McHegg Design+Build converted a dilapidated 1897 farmhouse in the Central Area of Seattle into a light-filled and spacious three-bedroom house. The full remodel and addition includes elements of sustainable building such as bamboo floors, concrete counters, and rain-screen Hardi-Panel siding.
Vibrant colors, exposed collar ties and unique wood accents combine to make bright and warm spaces. The formerly dank and eerie basement was converted into a full woodworking shop for McHegg Design+Build.
McHegg
Design+Build was hired to detail and build cabinetry and a freestanding island
for a kitchen remodel in Seattle. Fir veneer, stainless steel and bright paint
blend to create a vibrant and functional upscale kitchen for a family with
a multitude of demands.
McHegg Design+Build acted as subcontractor for this project. Kitchen design
by Gustave Carlson and Margarette Leite.
